100-mile july: counting down: 2..

Seasonal charty goodness! I have one printed and on the fridge for easy use.

Keep in mind that the Okanagan is outside our 100-mile radius, so if you're looking to be strict, you'll have to get closer.

Well, off to whip up the first of two hodgepodge dinners made of everything in the fridge that comes from afar...

1. Dinner invitations. This is not the time to be burning bridges. If you are invited for dinner, eat and enjoy the food that is prepared for you!
2. Out-of-town. Although it is still a wonderful opportunity to learn about local foods, it's unreasonably challenging (for my taste) to be bound to 100-mile rules in a foreign space.
3. Dried beans. Those of us who do not typically consume animal products will need them to survive. See Rule #3 for conditions.
4. Some kind of un-wheat grain. There is some wheat available in the lower mainland, but it's not ideal as a primary grain. Let's look into ideally-sourced quinoa, rice, millet, amaranth, spelt...
5. Seasonings.
