counting down: 3...

Local grainy goodness! From what I understand, their flours are 100-mile friendly, although it will be great to more about the whole deal. They also sell several other grains, as well as legumes. While most are not from within 100 miles of Vancouver, they are from sustainable farms as close by as possible, which is a good start! Anita's is sold at Choices and Capers, etc.

Also...THE FLOUR PEDDLER! If you get the chance at your farmer's market, BUY! A few products are grown in the Okanagan, but everything else (Metchosin, Agassiz...) is within 100 miles.

Anyone know more on this subject?

  1. Anita's and the Flour Peddler are two main producers that I am aware of. There is a bakery in white rock that sells organic flour but I am not sure where it comes from.
There is also a store in Vancouver where you can buy Anita's flour in bulk instead of the small packages. I will provide the names of the store and bakery as soon as I find them on the internet:)

  2. Drive Organics carries Anita's in the bulk section as I learned this morning!
